Andrew and Peter decide to follow Jesus The day after John baptized Jesus, Jesus came to visit him again. John was very happy and very excited to see Jesus! "It's Jesus!" he cried out. "God's new Passover Lamb - the One whom God has sent to turn our lives around!" "How do you know that?" someone asked. John smiled and raised his hands in the air. "God told me that the Spirit would come to rest on someone I baptized and that that person would be the one to baptize others with the Holy Spirit. The day I was with Jesus in the Jordan River, I saw the Spirit come out of the sky like a dove and land on him. Don't you see? He's the One we've been waiting for - God's Chosen One! He is God's Son!" The next day, John was with his friend Andrew and another man when he saw Jesus again. "Look!" John pointed toward Jesus. "There's the Lamb of God!" His friends wanted to know more about Jesus and find out why John was so excited about him. They followed Jesus at a distance, watching his every move. Finally Jesus turned and said to them, "What are you looking for?" They said to him, "Teacher, where are you staying?" He smiled at them and said, "Come and see." So they went to the place where Jesus was staying, and spent the day with him. At 4:00 in the afternoon, they decided to head home. Andrew raced to find his brother Simon. Bursting into the house he grabbed Simon and cried, "We've found him! We've found God's Chosen One, the Messiah! Come with me - quick!" Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus. Jesus took one look at Simon and said, "Come with me. I will give you a new name -'Peter.' It means'rock.'" So Andrew and Peter became the first two of Jesus' 12 disciples.
